Information on Local Environmental Issues

Dutchess County is blessed with rich natural resources that have been, and still are, advantageous to its continued growth.  Vast woodlands, meandering streams, fresh drinking water supplies, bountiful soils, and of course, the unique benefit of being located within the Hudson River Watershed, are just a few of the many resources the county has to offer.  In order to protect the great natural wealth available in the county, municipal leaders and the public need to better understand the importance of these natural resources, and practice good stewardship and sustainable land use planning in their decision-making processes.
