CCEDC's Environment Program and the Vassar College Environmental Research Institute have created a new interactive, community watershed website that will help members of local watershed groups, municipal officials, youth and teachers, and researchers learn about and protect the water resources in Dutchess County, NY.
The CCEDC Environment Program and the Dutchess Watershed Coalition are holding a Municipal Training Workshop on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 7:00pm on “Using GIS for Local Municipal Watershed Planning,” an event during Dutchess Watershed Awareness Month.
Throughout the year, the CCEDC Environment Program offers hands-on internships to college students interested in working on various environmental topics including: GIS, Watershed Outreach, Global Warming, Environmental Policy, and Environmental Education. Patrick Carroll - SUNY ESF - Environment Program Intern. Patrick Carroll is a sophomore at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF), majoring in Environmental Studies, and a graduate of Arlington High School. He has always been very interested in studying the relationship between humans and the environment and considering further studies and a career in the field of in environmental law and policy. The internship at CCEDC provided him with a new appreciation for environmental protection that is possible at the municipal, county and state level of government.
