The 4-H Youth Development Program at Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County will offer a tractor and machinery safety training program for youth ages 14-15. The program will enable young workers to obtain Hazardous Occupations Order in Agriculture (HOOA) certification, which is required to operate farm tractors and equipment. The program will provide attendees with the necessary 24 hours of instruction and will include group discussion, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and independent study. Upon completion of instruction, a written exam and driving test will be offered to achieve certification. Youth ages 8-13 may participate in the classroom portion, however, they are ineligible for certification.
