Giving to CCEDC

Many of the programs and services of Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County (CCEDC) help Dutchess County residents with gardening, consumer and nutrition, agriculture, and environmental concerns.  From youth programs, to preserving watersheds, to providing up-to-date agricultural information to local farmers, to helping families with household budgeting, CCEDC reaches out across the entire county as a resource to residents.  But, we desperately need your help to continue fulfilling our mission to youth, adults, families, and local communities.

We need your donation, today!

Your gift to Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County will allow us to continue to provide sound educational and outreach programs, reaching even more people in Dutchess County. clubphoto2web

  • In 2008, 61 children from 34 families were provided with backpacks and school supplies from our Relatives As Parents Programs!
  • With the help of local farmers, CCEDC planted warm season grass in 2006. This year the grass was harvested, baled, and sent to a processing plant where it was made into fuel bricks that can be burned in wood stoves or biomass boilers to heat homes or small commercial buildings.
  • No Child Left Inside (NCLI) Teens completed a DEC project to help track the American eel population and invasive mitten crabs, which earned them DEC recognition and a free week at DEC Camp in the Adirondacks.
  • 4th graders at JV Forrestal Elementary School learned about vermi-composting from our Green Teen leaders.
  • Local municipal officials and volunteers received GIS (Geographic Information Systems) training for natural resource analysis and mapping.

This is just a sampling of our 2008 successes!  You can see that your donation will be put to good use in delivering our programs throughout the county.  With your help, CCEDC will expand its outreach, planting seeds of knowledge through hands-on programming that provides children and adults with new experiences that improve the quality of their lives.

Your donation will help us provide research-based knowledge and tools to more people!  You can be a part of the excitement at Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County by sending your donation to my attention at CCEDC, 2715 Route 44, Millbrook, NY 12545, or call me at (845) 677-8223 x 100, or email my assistant, Leah Cadwallader, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. P.S. Last year, 900 Dutchess County youth ages 5 –18 participated in a 4-H youth program or club.  That’s 900 busy minds and hands building their future.  Help support them!
