Conservation Advisory Councils and Boards in Dutchess County

redhookcacdisplay

A Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) or Board (CAB) is an advisory group whose primary function is to advise their municipality on the management and protection of its natural resources.  Whenever possible, CAC members attend planning board and town board meetings and can help the town review current development proposals for their environmental impact. The town board can request that the CAC research an issue prior to board action. Of the 30 municipalities in Dutchess County, 20 municipalities have created a CAC or CAB - which means that Dutchess County has more municipal CACs/CABs than most other counties in New York State.

CCEDC's Environment Program staff provide research-based information, training, and GIS resources and tools to the CACs of Dutchess County.

CCEDC staff also maintain a list serve, DutchessCACsandEMC@yahoogroups, which is only open to members of Conservation Advisory Councils (CACs) and the Dutchess County EMC. The email list serve allows members to email each other, share information, and remain up-to-date on upcoming events and training. If you are a current CAC/EMC member and would like to join the list serve, please contact us at 677-8223 x 153.
