DESCRIPTION:About BioBlitz at College Hill ParkExplore Poughkeepsie’s plants and wildlife with local stewards, scientists, and neighbors! Join us for a group scavenger hunt — known as a BioBlitz — to identify plants, birds, pollinators, and other forms of life. We’ll be scouting out the City of Poughkeepsie’s College Hill Park, which is both the largest park and highest point in the City.Your observations will contribute to the growing database of biodiversity (the variety of plants and animals) being gathered as part of the Defining Urban Biodiversity study in Kingston, Newburgh, and Poughkeepsie. You’ll also learn how to use the iNaturalist app to help you prepare for future community science events! This event is in partnership with the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, CCEDC Dutchess County’s No Child Left Inside (NCLI) program and the Revive College Hill Park Coalition. We look forward to seeing you there! What to Expect MEETING POINT College Hill Park Pavilion DRESS for an outdoor day: wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. BRING binoculars and a smartphone/tablet if you have them. PLEASE NOTE: This event is rain or shine (barring extreme weather). Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.CLICK HERE for event flyer
