Energy Efficiency & Smart Growth Community Development

On Wednesday, September 19, 2018, Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County and Dutchess County Planning and Development held a forum on Energy Efficiency and Smart Growth Community Design. Local experts working within New York State spoke about how you can help your municipality plan for smart growth and a sustainable future. Using the County’s Center’s and Greenspaces Plan, speakers discussed ways to promote a municipality’s energy efficiency through land use planning, including how density, mixed-use centers, and transit oriented development play important roles.
