Stop the Spread. Help us "Bust" Invasive Plants.

CCE Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster and Westchester, along with the NYS DEC, are recruiting volunteers for the Blockbuster Citizen-Science Program. Volunteers are needed to survey for the presence of invasive plants in the Hudson Valley this summer. Training for the survey will be in June with several dates and locations. After the training, volunteers will pick a 5km X 5km block in their neighborhood to survey for invasive plants. Volunteer surveyors will be trained in skills which will help them estimate the extent or absence of targeted invasive species and note new occurrences in their assigned block. This program is part of the Lower Hudson Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management's (LHPRISM) efforts to stop the spread of invasive species in the lower Hudson Valley.

Dutchess County trainings will be held at the Farm and Home Center (2715,Rt.44, Millbrook, NY) on the following days:

  • Saturday, June 3, 2017: 9 AM 1 PM. Register
  • Saturday, June 17, 2017: 9 AM 1PM. Register
