4-H Rural Storytelling Project

undefined

This summer, Dutchess County 4-H partnered with Ulster and Columbia Greene Counties to help 14 young people become better “story-tellers. Through the project, three interns from Cornell University were trained by professional storyteller John Trybus and then in turn trained the 4-H youth. The youth (7 from Dutchess County) chose topics that were meaningful to them and were trained and mentored by the Cornell students to develop powerful stories told in a variety of mediums, using technology, creative writing and presentation skills”. The final virtual showcase was so impressive that Extension Out Loud, a broadcasting service of the Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, requested to make a podcast to feature the process.
