4-H Youth Development

The 4-H Program Director, Jane Rodd works collaboratively with the community to sustain and build the 4-H program to ensure it is accessible to all young people in Dutchess County. 4-H provides hands-on educational opportunities that empowers youth with life and leadership skills, a program Jane believes wholeheartedly in. Jane grew up immersed in farming in England where she qualified as a masters level equestrian professional. A faculty member at an agricultural college for many years before coming to the USA in 2000, she is passionate about youth education. Jane returned to school at UAlbany where she completed a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology. This highlighted to her just how impactful experiential learning is, engaging and motivating youth to develop into confident, competent, and caring adults. Jane joined CCEDC in 2016 and is committed to the amazing programs Extension offers, where applying her practical and youth development knowledge can benefit the whole community. When not working, Jane gardens, cooks, rides horses and hangs out with family and friends in beautiful Dutchess County.
